Cache Companion 1.0.2Â
Cache Companion is free of charge, but donations to support the development are welcome.
Usage:
- Download and install jar archive. Consult your phone’s documentation on how to (varies between models and vendors)
- Upload gpx pocket query to phone
- Start Cache companion, and select “Load gpx file” on the menu.
- Enter filename, on my Sony Ericcsson K750 the filepath is file:///e:/geocache.gpx for a file on the root of the SD card.
- Answer “yes” to requests for filesystem acceess.
- Wait for parsing to complete (approx 1-2 geocaches per second as gpx is parsed)
- Browse persisted geocache database. The parsed geocaches are persistent and on restart you can skip parsing of gpx file.
The current 1.0 release is the first public release and I’d like your comments to improve. At the moment the top 3Â tasks/features beeing worked on are:
- Creating a discussion forum for users at this site
- Setting up a bugtracking system for error reports
- Implement cross-device compatible file dialog for opening gpx files
